DARK TOWER UPDATE – OCTOBER 6TH, 2024

Published to social media October 6, 2024.

Hello all! We are back with The Jerry Stefek Memorial Crawl for the Cure at Gamehole Con 11, October 19th, 2024 and we would love to see you there! We will be running the Goodman Games Original Adventures Reincarnated version of Jennell Jaquays’ legendary adventure, Dark Tower, as a “mega-funnel”. 0-level characters will be pitted against the full-octane adventure to fight to survive with their wits, luck and donations to the worthy cause of the American Cancer Society. ALL collected donations will, as always, be given to the American Cancer Society for research and assistance benefiting those and their loved ones in the hold of this terrifying disease.

The story will unfold on a 12’ x 12’, massive map of the Towers, similar to last year, which was amazingly fun and a sight to see. There are a myriad of opportunities for prizes and adventure that you won’t want to miss! Get your ticket to pick up your memorial token to play in the event at the link below! Can’t purchase a ticket online, yet or unsure of your schedule? Not a problem! Place your $10 donation at the Crawl for the Cure Atrium registration table and receive your token to play!

We are happy to announce our incredible sponsors providing you with raffle prizes (digital and physical!) for your generous donations. Our current list of sponsors (with hopefully more to come) are:

(See all of our incredible sponsors HERE and support their awesome endeavors!)

We would also like to announce a few special things that have been in the works that are dear to us we now present to you!

  • Please applaud Wayward Studios for creating an ex-Adventurer NPC in memory of our fond friend Aaron Koelman in their release, Out of Gnollwhere. They created the stout Innkeeper, Akaerrian Keenblade, imprinting Aaron upon the character so he is always within our hearts and on our bookshelves! Thank you, Wayward Studios, for the touching remembrance!
  • We also are commissioning Doug Kovacs to create a portrait of the Akaerrian Keenblade persona, so we can always have Aaron with us in spirit at every Crawl for the future! It won’t be done by Gamehole Con, unfortunately, however, Doug will give us a digital copy of his work so far so Aaron will be with us at Gamehole Con 2024 and beyond!
  • And more exciting news, Nate Marcel, of Umerica cover acclaim, has created an awesome original artwork of Jennell Jaquays as her favorite character – a female red dragon in the guise of a magic user! I’ve seen his initial artwork; it is an incredible rendition of Jennell transforming from a human to a red dragon, and it is stunning! A lucky raffle winner will take it home after the event! The special raffle will be open to all Con attendees, so tell your friends! Details link below!
  • We will be setting up a few memorials for our lost friends and fighting survivors this year: a picture memorial of those who have passed this year in our community, “Adventurers’ Rest”, and, Peter Garancis is putting together “The Pillar of Strength” honoring those lost to cancer and those who have survived the disease. A small donation will enable you to place ribbons in their honor. It will be an awesome sight and an incredible remembrance for our loved friends, bringing warm memories and hope! Well done, Peter!

We hope you’ll join the cause and help us smite cancer! Watch the website for updates as the event comes closer! Thank you for your support!

Thank you!

SO SORRY WE ARE BEHIND – COMMUNICATION CATCH UP!

Hello everyone! We’ve made multiple social media posts on Crawl for the Cure Gamehole Con 2024, but I entirely missed updating the blog on the site. It’s been a crazy couple of months with necessary trips, other big games and a failed technical certification re-up. (Back to the drawing board. 🙂 )

The following posts will be a round-up of the announcements for the Crawl for the Cure: Gamehole Con 2024 Dark Tower event, and we’ll post the results after! Thank you all for your support, and I’ll give the spoiler – it was an INCREDIBLE EVENT!

Thank you all! It’s an incredible RPG community out there!!

Sincerely,

Your $10 donation for the memorial token can always be used to play, or just participate in the raffles with a minimum $3 donation per hour. See the details here

JOIN US AT GAMEHOLE CON X FOR A MEGA-DUNGEON MEGA-FUNNEL, TAKE BACK TEGEL MANOR!

Gamehole Con X cometh and The Jerry Stefek Memorial Crawl for the Cure run of Take Back Tegel Manor!, the Dungeon Crawl Classics 0-Level Mega-Funnel run in Frog God Games’ 2019 5th Edition release of Tegel Manor is close! We have very exciting sponsor news for our donors – you’ll drool at the goodies from our fine sponsors!

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, Frog God Games is providing Jerry’s Crawl a 16 x 16-foot battle map-scale map of Tegel Manor for a Goodman Games Dungeon Crawl Classics Mega-Funnel of heroic proportions! The Rumps’ evil is seeping beyond the manor walls to Tegel Village; your villager plebians will rise to purge the malevolence of the Rumps before they claim you as their own undead servants! Through clever plans and magic collected throughout the Manor, your peasants take on the Rump threat!

Your $10 ticket purchase for the event gives you manor access and a memorial token (with incredible Doug Kovacs original artwork!) to present to play throughout the day! Multiple villager parties will work together and be sent on missions throughout Tegel Manor to crumble the foundations of the Rump legacy: collect magic items, garner supernatural support and patronage, gain ethereal blessings and defeat Rump kin upon your quest, donating to flip the odds in your favor! ALL funds collected from tickets and donations will benefit the American Cancer Society. Buy a ticket through the Gamehole Con site or contribute your $10 at the table and quest to help those afflicted! Our goal is to beat the $1,800 total collected last year to help cancer victims and those affected by their suffering through the ACS; we ask you to heed the call!

And, of course, you can expect our incredible sponsors to provide hourly raffle prizes and awesome end-of-event prizes for our players for their in-game donations! The renowned names you expect, as well as new sponsors, have added to the ranks: Goodman Games, Frog God Games, Troll Lord Games, Dandyline Games, Planet X Games, Get Haunted Industries, Wyrmwood Gaming and so many more are giving their high-quality products as raffle rewards and prizes for your generosity. Bad Mike of Frog God Games has pledged original Judges Guild products to players (while supplies last!) to give you a taste of the original creators! Traditional hourly raffles for donors will occur throughout the entire event, and special prizes will be given at the closing, including a Dungeon Crawl Classics Rulebook signed by a crazy number of Goodman Games authors, Twitch and table notables! Additionally, Doug Kovacs has pledged the original artwork created for the event for a raffle to benefit ACS! Players will all get one free raffle chance and we’ll sell tickets so everybody has a chance to take home this beautiful Doug Kovacs artwork – it is stunning!

Please visit the Crawl for the Cure Gamehole Con site for more details and follow us on Twitter/X @crawlforthecure for more updates!

We hope to see you there so we can once again smite this affliction and aid others in education and care if they are affected by cancer’s callous grip! Thank you for your support!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, CRAWLERS! MEMORIAL TOKENS AND PHYSICAL PRIZES ARE ON THEIR WAY!

Greetings in 2023, Crawlers! I apologize for the lag in responses – with Gamehole and Ethermeet events so close to each other for the first time, I had quite a bit to catch up on at home and work! The Memorial Tokens for Ethermeet 2022 are in and they look GREAT with the wonderfully blazing artwork of Nate Marcel! We hope to have these all out to you by next week, latest, along with all the physical prizes which are due you from the event! Thank you so much for your support!

Additionally, on December 19th, I sent the direct cash donations we had from some generous pre-donors to the American Cancer Society directly, so they could take the full effect of the funds! We also threw in a true-up of the 5% Tiltify fees that brought our total up to the full $4,185.55 for the ACS to use for its noble cause! We thank everyone for making this aid possible with their time and treasure to make Ethermeet a success!

Thank you for your support of The Jerry Stefek Memorial Crawl for the Cure: Ethermeet 2022! We’ll be getting all the donors a personal thank you in token goodness and finish up our physical mailings of prizes in the near future. Happy New Year, and we wish you all the best in 2023! We are blessed by this amazing community!

INCREDIBLE RESULTS FOR THE JERRY STEFEK MEMORIAL CRAWL FOR THE CURE: ETHERMEET 2022!

Hello all!  The Jerry Stefek Memorial Crawl for the Cure: Ethermeet 2022 concluded last night, and with a few more donations after hours, we are proud to announce with your help we were able to raise $4,185.55 for the American Cancer Society between Tiltify and $725 of pre-event donations!  That is an amazing feat, especially in these strange economic times. We thank you ALL for your generosity in making a real difference in people’s lives.  Thank you for your support of the event!

A special thanks to all of our sponsors (please visit them for your holiday shopping!) and to our Judges and players for providing their time and talents to entertain us with their sessions!

Thank you Judges:

  • Judge Edwin Nagy
  • Castle Keeper Chuck Cumbow
  • Judge Julian Bernick
  • Judge Luau Lou Hoefer (as Insanti Clawz!)

Thank you to Luau Lou for putting on an awesome show with this crew; Lou tapped the muse of the late night horror show to bring us the Final Admission Theater & ½ Price Oyster Bar, hosted by his alternate persona, Insanti Clawz! His players dressed for the part, and it was an incredible play of Julian Bernick’s Home for the Holideath! Thank you Final Admission Theater crew! The 2021 and 2022 sessions will be going up on YouTube for your enjoyment in the near future, be sure to catch up on what you missed, there were awesome sessions in both!

A very special thanks to Reid San Filippo and Shield of Faith Studios for his very generous $500 donation to the cause to put us over $1,000 more earned than last year’s Ethermeet! Thank you for your generous donation to the cause, Reid!

Finally, I wanted to thank Steve Seminerio and my amazing and tireless wife, Hazel Welch, for their countless hours of work helping me put these events together! It simply could not be done without them, so kudos goes to them for their work and for putting up with stressed me at the same time!

The top prizes were awarded, and we’re going to take a few days rest, then we’ll start getting the prizes out to you. Thank you all for your continuous support for The Jerry Stefek Memorial Crawl for the Cure in all of our events!  Happy Holidays, and thanks for making a difference in the lives of those in need!

THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY’S THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK AT GAMEHOLE CON’S CRAWL FOR THE CURE!

Hi all! I just wanted to share with you the thank you from the American Cancer Society for our direct $1,500 contribution (a $300 donation was made on our behalf from another donor for the $1,800 total) for our Gamehole Con IX 2022 The Shambling Undead Charity Crawl! Your outstanding support enabled us to go far beyond our expectations for the event and make a difference in peoples’ lives! Thank you for enabling us to do this Good work for those in need in Jerry’s memory!

Please also take a minute to look over the ACS-provided lists of tangible effects your support has for those suffering and affected by cancer’s grasp! Every dollar you give helps those in need! It is great to see where those dollars are going to!

YOU HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE!

Hello all! I received an update this week from the Hope Lodge, an American Cancer Society community program that provides free lodging for patients and their caregivers while they receive treatment. It is a home-like atmosphere where patients have places to gather or find quiet, where they can find support from others and make emotional ties with others on the same path.

Last year we used our PayPal donations ($1,286.23, matched to $2,572.46) to support the Baltimore, MD Hope Lodge in expansion and renovation. They sent us a newsletter to remind us that our donation affected someone in need!

(Note: This year all payments will go through Tiltify – they do have PayPal as a donor option this year to support PayPal donors!)

Thank you so much for your support of The Jerry Stefek Crawl for the Cure, and we look forward to making a difference for others in need with your help!
